Welcome to the website of the PALA 2013 conference › Mobile Stylistics ‹ in Heidelberg - the first PALA conference to be held in Germany.
Organizers: Beatrix Busse and her team

Heidelberg is without doubt one of Germany's most famous cities with historical sights like the castle and the picturesque old town. Poets, painters and musicians from many historical periods have praised Heidelberg. Mark Twain, for example, spent three months in Heidelberg and fell in love with it, as is evident in A Tramp Abroad.

Heidelberg University is Germany's oldest university, and the "Anglistisches Seminar", host institution of PALA 2013, is among the largest English departments in Germany. Two meaningful and strikingly different venues have been chosen for this conference. The plenary lectures will take place in the historic "Alte Aula" built in the early 17th century. All other papers will be given in the lecture halls of the "Neue Universität", the modern and recently renovated companion to the "Alte Aula". Both locations are within walking distance of each other and situated
in the Old Town of Heidelberg.
Heidelberg is within easy reach of the Frankfurt airport - Germany's biggest airport which is only 45-50 minutes away from Heidelberg by train (travel information).

We are honoured that the following scholars have agreed to act as plenary speakers:
Prof. Dr. Monika Fludernik (Freiburg, Germany)
Professor Dan McIntyre (Huddersfield, GB)
Dr. Marga Munkelt (Münster, Germany)
Dr. Nina Nørgaard (Odense, Denmark)
Professor Mark Turner (Case Western University, USA)
Prof. Dr. Ingo H. Warnke (Bremen, Germany)

See Call for Papers.

We would love to welcome you all to Heidelberg in July/August 2013!
